Discipleship

As a church committed to worshiping fully, learning humbly, and loving extravagantly, we believe community is a critical ingredient to following Jesus. Community encourages worship (Hebrews 10:23-25), community facilitates learning (Colossians 3:16), and community inspires love (Colossians 3:12-15). That is why community is an essential element of how we understand learning about Jesus and what it means to follow Jesus; we do not merely learn for the sake of learning, but so that we can be transformed as we set our hearts and minds on things above (Colossians 3:1-4).

Park Road has two main formats for discipleship:

Small Groups:

Our small groups are based around our sermons and intended to help us apply the Word of God to our own hearts and our own lives. Small groups are not necessarily Bible study - although we certainly do open the Scriptures together! Instead, small groups help us respond to God's Word, discussing how it is affecting our own lives and the opportunities for growth we see within ourselves.

One to One Bible Reading:

Starting in January we will begin a transformational way to make disciples. It doesn't get more uncomplicated than this: read the Bible together. All of the members of our session and church leadership will begin to read the Bible weekly with one person in order to help them grow in their knowledge and love for Jesus.
